Translation of the video
Freemuse is the only international organisation that defends music, musicians and composers world-wide. The organisation was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1998.
Freemuse aims to defend musician’s freedom of expression. Today there are thousands of musicians who have to deal with issues in regard to that.
Freemuse documents music censorship and violations against the musicians and their human rights and continuously sends alerts about such violations to other human rights organisations and the media.
One of the continuous aims of Freemuse is to defend musicians who are violated, threatened and imprisoned due to their music.
For the past ten years, Freemuse has — through conferences, seminaries and symposiums — created a great network amongst musicians world-wide.
Freedom of expression in Afghanistan, when it comes to music, along with human rights in Afghanistan in general, has always been one of Freemuse’s main focuses.
The efforts Freemuse puts into their work to keep the Afghan music alive during the Taliban regime are highly notable.
Defending and supporting the freedom of expression in Afghanistan will help improving democracy in the country.
