Freemuse Award 2011
to Egyptian singer Ramy Essam


Egyptian singer Ramy Essam, who provided the soundtrack for the Arab Spring at Tahrir Square, is the winner of the 2011 Freemuse Award. The artist will receive the award at a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden, on Monday 21 November 2011.

Freemuse Award 2010
to an Iranian and a Turkish singer


At an award ceremony in London on 25 March 2010, Mahsa Vahdat and Ferhat Tunç will receive the Freemuse Award 2010. They are strong defenders of freedom of musical expression and well-known to audiences in Europe, where their music — unlike in their home countries — can be performed without restrictions.

New Freemuse CD: 'Listen to the banned'
