Meet the banned @ WOMEX 2004
At this year’s WOMEX Freemuse presented two conference sessions: Meet the banned! Music censorship in Turkey featuring Turkish musician Ferhat Tunç, who has been banned and imprisoned several times by the authorities, while 9/11 – The world's all out of tune presented “9/11 – The world's all out of tune” Populäre Musik nach dem 11. September 2001, a brand new book dealing with the 9/11 repercussions for freedom of musical expression.

Testimony: the trials and arrests of Ferhat Tunç “1986: Arrested for political reasons. One week of interrogations, degradations and torture in the notorious prison camp DAL. Consequently my concerts were not permitted systematically and my records were forbidden and confiscated in many regions of Turkey.” Read full testimony Latest news: Tunç will be tried due to the article 159 of the Turkish Penal Code On 2 December 2004 Ferhat Tunc will again appear before court.
