Roland Seim, Josef Spiegel (Ed.)  „Nur für Erwachsene“ (Adults Only)
Rock- und Popmusik: zensiert, diskutiert, unterschlagen

With focus on original LP- and CD covers of the past 50 years, a German book and exhibition documents the history of rock- and pop music that has evoked public discussions or even been censored. Within the presentation censored and uncensored version - composed of specific themes such as political correctness, eroticism, the illustration of violence etc. - are confronted and compared. Regarding the different genres of music the illustrated field ranges from the beginning of rock, to beat, punk, even including death metal and hip hop of the current scene.

It shows how values and boundaries have changed over the past 50 years of rock- and pop history. The copiously illustrated catalogue contains introductory essays and an encyclopedia of music censorship. The exhibition and book was realized by Dr. Roland Seim, Dr. Josef Spiegel and Heinz Kock in collaboration with students of the institute of musicology of the University of Hamburg, Germany.
